Zlatan shows the packages on Instagram, and Elumelu congratulates the couple on X.
Nigerian businessman Tony Elumelu sent singer Zlatan Ibile and his wife, Davita Lamai, wedding gifts after their star-studded ceremony in Lagos on Saturday, October 24. Zlatan showed the packages on his Instagram Story on Monday, October 26, two days later.
The gifts were wrapped in Heirs Holdings-branded packaging, and the white envelopes carried handwritten inscriptions. Among them were "Zlatan, well done", "Our wife" and "Congrats". The packages also carried Elumelu's signature, with his initials, "TOE", as the sender's sign-off. He personally signed both envelopes, writing Zlatan's name on one and "our wife" on the other, addressed to Davita.
Zlatan thanked the businessman on his Instagram Story that Monday, tagging his handle.
Through his business dealings and charitable initiatives, Elumelu, who leads United Bank for Africa (UBA) as chairman and started the Tony Elumelu Foundation, has stayed connected to Nigeria's creative sector. On X, he reacted to Zlatan's post the same day with a message about the couple:
"Proud of our Creatives! Congrats to @Zlatan_Ibile and Davita on your wedding"
Social media users were amused by the inscriptions and reflected on the value of connections. @tiwaamie wrote: "The only time Our wife doesn't seem like whining", and @simi_toks shared: "Our wife the only time it sounds right". @yes_iam_nifeh said: "See rich man signature and me wey no shishi, I dey form artist with my own".
Singer Davido served as one of Zlatan's groomsmen. Lil Kesh, Ms DSF, Teni Makanaki, Seyi Vodi, Iyabo Ojo, Young John and Papaya Ex were some of the faces seen at the ceremony.
Zlatan and Davita have two sons together and kept much of their relationship away from the public before their traditional wedding. The couple had announced their wedding date in a video posted on October 8, and had released traditional wedding pictures ahead of the ceremony.
