Medianaija covers Nigerian and African entertainment, music, film and football. This page explains how we choose, write, check and correct our stories.
Who writes for Medianaija
Our stories are written and edited by the Medianaija desk. Sola Amusan covers football and other sports, Bamiji covers music, and Femi Oluleye covers entertainment, film, Nollywood and general news. You can reach the desk at info@medianaija.com.
How we source stories
- We report what happened, when, and who said it, and we link to or name the original source: the club, the artist, the official statement, or the outlet that first reported it.
- We do not publish rumours as fact. When a story is based on reports that are not yet confirmed, we say so in the headline or the first lines.
- We do not copy other outlets' articles. When we cover a story first reported elsewhere, we write it in our own words, credit the original report, and add context for Nigerian readers.
How we use AI tools
We use AI tools to help with research and first drafts on some stories. Every story is checked against the sources it relies on before it is published, and claims we cannot confirm are removed. Stories on sensitive subjects, such as crime, court cases, deaths and allegations against named people, are held for review by an editor before publication. Our editors are responsible for everything published under the Medianaija name.
Photos and media
We use photos that are licensed to us, supplied by the people or organisations in the story, released for press use, or embedded from official social media accounts. If you own a photo used on Medianaija and did not give permission, email info@medianaija.com and we will credit it or remove it.
Corrections
We fix mistakes as soon as we know about them. If you see an error, email info@medianaija.com with the link to the article and what is wrong. When a correction changes the meaning of a story, we update the article and note the change.
Independence
Our editorial decisions are not for sale. Sponsored content, if we publish any, is clearly labelled as sponsored. Advertising on the site is placed by ad networks and does not influence what we cover.
