The song opened with 499,225 Spotify Nigeria streams on its first day.

Singer-songwriter Peruzzi's new single Inferno, with Zlatan Ibile and Shoday, opened with 499,225 streams on Spotify Nigeria on its first day and debuted at No. 1 on the platform's Top Songs chart, Tooxclusive reported on October 30.

Seven years on from their earlier joint song Bayi Bayi, Peruzzi and Zlatan are back together on this track. Peruzzi has described it as a love song, Notjustok reports.

Peruzzi leads on melodic vocals. Shoday, a rising name, contributes a smooth second vocal layer, while Zlatan handles the rapping with more energy. The Loud Urban Choir provides the background vocals.

In Pulse Nigeria's assessment, the song is a high-energy street-pop track whose workload is divided among three performers. Peruzzi provides the sweet melodic hooks, Zlatan adds ad-libs and bars in Yoruba chant style, and Shoday delivers smooth, catchy refrains.

TheCable Lifestyle's radio chart ranks the songs with the most airplay in Nigeria over the past week. Inferno debuted in first place, with Double Gee2x's Ore Agbako entering at eighth.

Afrobeats superstar Davido congratulated the trio on Instagram: "God pas man. Congrats guys." Legit.ng says the post came as the song sparked major online buzz.

Legit.ng reports the song arrived amid a simmering feud between Zlatan and activist Verydarkman, known offline as Vincent, and that a lyric listeners quickly connected to Verydarkman's first name drew immediate attention. The friction, it says, goes back to the period following the death of the late singer Mohbad, when Verydarkman publicly pushed Zlatan and several other music industry figures to speak out on the circumstances of Mohbad's passing.

In a video and social media post, Verydarkman mocked Zlatan's recent high-profile wedding and suggested the ceremony was a promotional stunt. He said: "Person wey do a whole wedding because he won promote him album, album no blow, wedding no blow."

According to Legit.ng, he also mockingly challenged the song to remain at No. 1 on Apple Music for a full month.
