Her role is being kept under wraps as the film heads for a December release with Robert Downey Jr. as Doom.
German actress Sandra Hüller is part of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported her involvement and confirmed it. Marvel has not commented. THR said rumours had swirled since her name popped up on the British Stunt Register a couple of weeks ago. Her role is being kept secret, and it is being described as a cameo.
Hüller is an Oscar nominee. In 2024 she earned her first best actress nomination, for Anatomy of a Fall. Variety counts the Marvel role as her fifth major feature of 2026, after Project Hail Mary, Rose, Fatherland and Digger.
The film is deep in post-production, with directors Anthony and Joe Russo, and is heading for a December 18 opening. Robert Downey Jr. stars as Doom, and Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers. THR says the film is known to feature heroes from different timelines who team up to fight a sorcerer scientist named Doctor Doom. Variety also names a big ensemble around the leads: Tom Hiddleston, Ian McKellen, Channing Tatum, Vanessa Kirby, Patrick Stewart, Florence Pugh, Paul Rudd, Pedro Pascal, Anthony Mackie and Chris Hemsworth.
The rumour mill has her possibly playing Doom's mother, a witch, or one of the Latverian Witches. Marvel displayed Latverian robes at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, and Empire says the Latverian Witches have become a focal point of the marketing and fan theories.
IGN says all it knows for now is that Hüller will appear in a cameo part, so she probably won't show up for much of the film's runtime of 2 hours and 45 minutes. It is possible, IGN adds, that her character is seen only in a stinger during the credits.
Empire gives December 16 as the date the film hits UK cinemas.
