His father's wife, Shade Okoya, congratulated the couple on Instagram as a clip from the wedding surfaced online.
In a private ceremony, Idris Okoya, the son of Eleganza Group chairman and billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya, has wedded his partner Rukoyah. The news came on Monday, 19 October, when Shade Okoya, the industrialist's wife, posted a photo of the newlyweds on her Instagram Story.
Shade was also seen in a video from the ceremony, dressed in aso ebi. Legit.ng reports that a clip from the wedding also surfaced online, showing her at the event.
A food vendor, Tuwo Pama International, shared a video from the event on Sunday and added prayers for the couple. "Today's event at Rukoyah and Idris Okoya's wedding. May Almighty Allah bless their union," the vendor wrote.
TheCable, which describes the event as a traditional wedding, says the couple wore elegant green traditional outfits in its videos and photos, while family members wore white with navy blue gele. TheCable adds that Rukoyah's father is reportedly Abdulganiu Hussein Al-Ilory, an Islamic faith leader from Kwara state.
Idris belongs to the group of Razaq Okoya's sons who were born to a prior marriage. Eleganza Group, a conglomerate in Nigeria with manufacturing and other business interests, was set up by the senior Okoya. TheCable also names him the Aare of Lagos.
Another of the industrialist's children, Raheeda Olamide, got engaged to Imran Saro Gobir earlier this year, TheCable notes.
Fatai Okoya, who claims to be the billionaire's first son, recently opened up about a strained relationship with his father. He said he had made several attempts to reconcile after 40 years of estrangement, and he apologised, saying their disagreement stemmed from a small amount of money he took when he was younger and less responsible.
