PSG beat Barcelona 4-2 in Paris, ending the Catalan side's 11-game winning streak.
Barcelona have reportedly lodged a complaint with UEFA over a banner that Paris Saint-Germain supporters unveiled before their Champions League match on Tuesday.
Fans behind one of the goals at the Parc des Princes held the display up as the players came on for kick-off. It showed a masked figure in a PSG shirt destroying the Barcelona badge with a chainsaw, and the words "Massacre, Parisian style." were written underneath. Pyrotechnics were used to mimic the sparks from the blade.
A source told ESPN the imagery was both "overly aggressive and offensive."
In a statement to BBC Sport, Barcelona said the club "strongly condemns" the incidents, including the images of a blood-covered chainsaw attacking the Barca crest.
Barcelona's statement went on to explain what it found wrong with the display:
"These images were deeply disturbing and conveyed a message that incites violence and hatred in sport."
The club said it considered that kind of imagery and language unacceptable, because it went against respect, fair play and sportsmanship, and it wants football to be free from messages that promote hatred or violence.
Article 16 of UEFA's disciplinary regulations covers the "use of gestures, words, objects, or any other means to transmit a provocative message that is not fit for a sports event". Under BBC Sport's account, such conduct may trigger penalties, among them a first-offence fine of 10,000 euros (£8,381). UEFA declined to comment. UEFA's disciplinary body typically reviews match reports before determining what, if anything, to do next.
On the pitch, PSG won 4-2. Desire Doue opened the scoring, and Lucas Hernández, Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz were also on target. Barcelona levelled twice, through Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal, but late strikes from Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz settled it.
The defeat was Barcelona's first of the season and ended an 11-game winning streak. Barca had won their opening two Champions League matches, and PSG made it three wins out of three in the competition this season.
PSG boss Luis Enrique said: "What I loved is how the players were capable of playing a sensational first half defensively, winning a lot of balls with the high press and creating chances to score more goals." He added: "This is the best level we could come up against."
The Independent reports that PSG have confirmed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Ousmane Dembele and captain Marquinhos are likely to miss the next several weeks with thigh injuries suffered in the same match.
Both clubs turn to domestic football on Sunday. PSG face Lyon in a top-of-the-table Ligue 1 fixture, while Barcelona host Real Madrid in the first Clásico of the season.
