The single is from Time & Space, which is officially scheduled to drop on 16 November 2026.
Nigerian rapper Olamide released Burukutu on Tuesday through YBNL, the record label he founded in 2012, with a music video directed by TG Omori. The track is taken from his upcoming album, Time & Space, and it samples President Bola Tinubu's "enjoy your weekend" remark.
The title refers to a traditional, locally brewed fermented grain beverage found across various parts of Nigeria. The song is built for celebration, and its opening line is the chant that sets its tone:
"Baddoo we wanna partyyyy!"
The lyrics mix street-smart Yoruba flows and rhythmic cadences with reflections on hustle, leisure and local vibes, over high-energy production. The video cuts between two settings. One is a monochromatic, glowing red corridor, where Olamide wears a double-breasted suit, dark sunglasses and dreadlocks. The other is an earthen-toned, arched courtyard with dancers in structured white outfits, pillbox hats and pearl details, and scenes of Olamide playing the saxophone.
The Tinubu sample has drawn attention to the song. The inclusion surprised many listeners, and the reaction on social media appears to be mixed.
Olamide is scheduled to perform at London's O2 Arena on 25 March 2027. The announcement artwork showed him painting what appeared to be the venue, with the concert date on the image. The post read: "Olamide, live at the O2, London! Artist presale: Wednesday, 21 October at 10am. General sale: Friday, 23 October at 10am."
Olamide is widely regarded as one of Nigeria's biggest rappers. Alongside the single, he announced the title of his next studio project, Time & Space. It follows his self-titled album Olamidé, released in June 2025 with 17 tracks and collaborations with Wizkid, Seyi Vibez, Asake, Young Jonn and Darkoo. Time & Space is officially scheduled to drop on 16 November 2026.
