Fenerbahçe are reportedly considering a January move for Bursaspor striker Kelechi Iheanacho, according to Turkish outlet HT Spor. The 30-year-old joined Bursaspor on a free transfer in the summer and has 16 goals and three assists in 12 league appearances for the Green Crocodiles.
Seeking to add more attacking punch, Fenerbahçe are also hoping to make a real push for the championship and narrow the distance to Galatasaray, their Istanbul neighbours. They sit fifth in the Süper Lig with 16 points from nine matches. İsmail Kartal, previously the club's coach, left his role this week after the derby loss to Galatasaray.
Iheanacho has been Bursaspor's leading goalscorer in the 2026/27 campaign. The striker also found the net for Nigeria in a friendly with Russia, bringing his combined total to 17 goals from 13 games for club and country.
Bursaspor president Enes Çelik has admitted the club could consider selling the striker if an extraordinary offer arrives, despite his wish to keep him. He said, as quoted by Turkinform:
"If a poll were conducted, 99% would say he absolutely shouldn't be sold. I understand that, but we're not just looking at it emotionally. We also have to look at the situation logically. Iheanacho is a player who scores goals when there's no real chance."
Çelik said the striker was important to the team, but that management would have to weigh the club's financial interests if a substantial offer arrives. Çelik's own wish is clear:
"I want him to stay in the team more than anyone. But there might be some absurd figures involved. If there are, we, as the management, will evaluate them."
Çelik declined to disclose a valuation, but said any acceptable offer would have to be substantial. On a figure, he said:
"He's a really good character. It wouldn't be right to give a specific figure, but if it's a figure that satisfies everyone, you can be sure it will be a figure that will make people say, 'He'll be sold for that amount,'"
Former Liverpool winger Dirk Kuyt has been appointed interim manager while Fenerbahçe look for a substantive head coach.
