The Super Eagles midfielder came off the bench, and the win took Lazio three points clear of Inter after eight wins in nine league games.
Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru came off the bench to set up Tijjani Noslin's second goal as Lazio beat Sassuolo 6-2 away on Tuesday 27 October, a result that took the Rome club top of Serie A.
Dele-Bashiru was among the substitutes and was introduced before the second half started. His pass came 61 minutes in, when Noslin completed his brace with a rocket from the edge of the box. The match was a wild one: eight goals, a red card and two missed penalties.
Lazio were ahead after two minutes, when Kenneth Taylor swept home after Gustav Isaksen's cross was intercepted. Sassuolo hit back, with Kristian Thorstvedt equalising in the seventh minute. Isaksen put Lazio 2-1 up in the 13th minute, and Romano Floriani Mussolini made it 3-1 two minutes later, the first Serie A goal of his career.
The match turned in the 31st minute, when Thorstvedt was shown a straight red card for a tackle on Mattia Zaccagni, leaving Sassuolo with 10 men. Sebastiano Esposito pulled one back for the hosts just before half-time, but Zaccagni headed Lazio's two-goal cushion back on the stroke of the break.
Zaccagni then missed a penalty early in the second half, and Davide Frattesi also failed from the spot later on. Noslin scored twice after the break, the second a firm shot into the top corner that made it 6-2.
Lazio have won eight of their nine league games and remain unbeaten. The win took them to 25 points, three clear of Inter, but Inter drew level on 25 points with a 2-0 win at Venezia on Wednesday. Soccernet's analysis calls a single pass against 10 men a small sample, but says the assist keeps Dele-Bashiru involved in a side winning almost every week, with Eric Chelle and the November double-header against Tanzania in mind.
Their next league match takes them on the road to Cagliari on 1 November.
