Lizzy Gold has denied a romance, but videos from her birthday yacht party have reignited the talk.
Nollywood actress Lizzy Gold turned another year older on Friday, October 16, 2026, and fellow actor Yul Edochie made sure fans noticed. He marked the day with a post on Instagram.
Edochie shared a photo of the actress with a message that praised her hard work and good heart. He wrote: "Happy birthday to a very hardworking woman, a go-getter with a good heart, Lizzygoldofficial, the Ghen Ghen Queen. Wishing you many more successful years. May God lead you always."
Lizzy Gold replied to the post: "Thanks Odogwu I appreciate." Actress Destiny Etiko, who is both a close friend and a co-worker of the honouree, left a comment too, replying simply: "Amen."
In her own birthday post, Lizzy Gold looked back on what she has been through. "Not every day has been easy, but through every season, I have kept moving forward, learning, and becoming a better version of myself."
The tribute landed against months of rumours that the two are romantically involved, which Lizzy Gold has repeatedly denied. The talk grew after a kissing scene between them in the romance film My Star, a few weeks before the birthday message.
Explaining the scene, Lizzy Gold said she had avoided kissing scenes for about four to five years, but agreed to this one because they were comfortable with each other:
"My colleague Yul has a very good breath. I also have a good breath. We both have good breath. So we're comfortable doing the kissing scene."
She added that she intends to avoid kissing scenes in future productions she does not personally own, and pointed out that the kiss lasted under a minute. Her explanation did little to end the speculation.
In June 2026, a video of the pair at actor Chief Imo's 15th wedding anniversary celebration drew attention for their coordinated outfits and close interactions. Lizzy Gold has said her bond with Edochie is rooted in friendship and professional support, and credited him with helping her career after he directed a movie in which she featured.
The latest flare-up came from an all-night yacht cruise, reportedly held to celebrate her birthday. Videos from the party show Edochie and the actress dancing together, and some viewers have questioned their closeness. The controversy came shortly after the October 16 tribute.
