For vehement followers of StarBoy Wizkid, they know to always view his IG Story daily, heck, even track his posts as the minutes pass by, for through that medium (Story), Wizkid tends to spill the tea more often than they (the followers) care to admit.
He has used his IG Story medium to praise his colleague for doing excellent jobs with their music, other times he rather co-signs upcoming talents, share posts relating to him and his brand, or just have fun with the millions following him. Most importantly, we trust Wizkid to use it to promote his music, either by sharing dates of new releases, showing off his high fashion dresses to events he was paid to perform in, post dates of his octane-filled tours, or even just posting a screenshot of his already released bangers. Wizkid is never shy to promote his beloved craft.
Today, Wednesday 18, 2022, in his usual fashion, Wizkid (born Ayodeji Balogun) has taken the IG Story route, posting interesting pictures of himself, but two of those slides have fans taken aback, as they find the news revealed unbelievable, especially one relating to him (Wizkid) going on tour with one of his revered colleagues, a stunner like himself.
Before we get to the juiciest news of them all, he (Wizkid) has teased the release of the second volume to the fan-favourite “Sound Man Vol. 1” project; he also chose to leave his fans with their tongues out like dogs fiending for bones, as he reveals he and Rema has a song together on that project.
Now to the news of the moment. Wizkid has chosen Davido (born David Adeleke) to be his partner-in-crime on their quest for world domination through music.
He wrote: “After my MLLE tour!! Davido and I going on tour! Save your coins! No one hear pim!!”, speculating a tour with 30BG‘s head honcho, Davido, after he rounds up the tour for his latest album, “More Love, Less Ego”.
This comes as a shock to the whole wide world. Why? For years, Wizkid and Davido have been said to harbour resentment towards each other, and though, they might have been spotted together a few times, the media believe it was done for the sake of show business.
The fan bases of both acts have also made matters unbearable by ceaselessly pitching Wizkid and Davido against each other; an achievement of one is always seen as a statistic to outdo the other by these fan bases.
But, today, Wizkid wishes to dead any bad blood the media might have painted about his relationship with fellow star Davido, and a joint tour is how he chooses to announce that.
A date has not been set yet, but fans know not to expect Wizkid and Davido to tour until the third quarter of 2023 because of Wizkid’s ongoing “More Love, Less Ego” tour which is to include stadiums in the UK.
A Wizkid and Davido joint tour might just be the biggest highlight of the ‘Afrobeats to the world’ movement, for it will not only showcase the immaculate artistry of both figures but also shine a light on brotherhood and African culture. We look forward to that!
