Disney+ has revealed that its upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians tv series will have a two-episode debut on December 20. With subsequent episodes getting weekly releases.
The streaming service made the announcement alongside the release of the first teaser trailer for the show. The trailer begins with a voice-over by Percy’s mother, Sally Jackson, informing him of the existence of Greek gods. “The stories that I have told you about Greek gods and half-bloods — they are real,” she says. At the same time, the trailer shows Camp Half-Blood, Ares (Adam Copeland) Percy on the elevator to Olympus, and his encounters with various creatures.
Then concludes with a voice-over of Glynn Turman (Chiron) saying, “Percy Jackson. We’ve been expecting you.” Fans also got a first look at Walker Scobell (Percy Jackson), Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth Chase), and Aryan Simhadri (Grover Underwood) in the new trailer.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a Disney + adaptation of Rick Riordan’s renowned Percy Jackson novel series. The first season is based on the first book in the series, “The Lightning Thief.” Which follows 12-year-old Percy as he discovers that he is a demigod afters getting by The Minotaur.
As he begins to embrace and comprehend his newly discovered heavenly powers. Things turn for the worse when Zeus, king of the gods’, accuses him of stealing his master’s lightning bolt. Zeus then threatens to wage war with the gods if it is not returned. As a result, Percy and his pals, Grover and Annabeth, set off on an adventure to retrieve the missing lightning bolt. In an effort to bring peace to Olympus.
The show’s cast also includes guest appearances from the late Lance Reddick, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Megan Mullally, Toby Stephens. As well as, Jay Duplass, Charlie Bushnell, Jason Mantzoukas, Dior Goodjohn, Timm Sharp, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Olivia Morton, Suzanne Cryer, and Timothy Omundson.
