To say ODUMODUBLVCK‘s rise to fame has been smooth can be likened to saying newborns come out of the womb six feet tall—impossible! ODUMODUBLVCK is not a stranger to online trolls and slanders. Either through his heart-on-sleeve speeches or radical writings, he somehow always finds a way to be controversial. Today, 27 November, ODUMO once again, fell into the pit of public slander for a lyrical excerpt of his.
The Issue
The lyrical excerpt is from his feature in Shallipopi’s song titled Cast. The lyrics go thus: “If she no f–k o, if she no s–k / Who go pay for her wig and handbag?” That excerpt was brought to users’ consciousness early this morning by @Tiana_kriss (a Twitter user). According to Tiana, ODUMODU is pushing an agenda against women’s ability to fend for themselves. She outrightly tagged the lyric “disgusting” and “crap” while advising fellow ladies to “work hard” to avoid such an embarrassment.
The resultant effect of Tiana’s post is the dragging of ODUMODUBLVCK. Many other female users of Twitter (now X) have come to defend her claim and call out ODUMODUBLVCK for the ‘misrepresentation’ of females. In short, they label ODUMO a “misogynist.”
Needless to say, the trend room for keywords ‘Odumo’ and ‘Odumodublvck’ is a war-torn area between him being labeled a woman-hater and a few users defending his artistic right to express himself how he deems fit.
ODUMO’s Reaction
The irony of this is ODUMODUBLVCK’s nonchalant but vehement stance on the situation. He has come online to defend his right to be vulgar lyrically just like some other artistes do and without reproach. To ODUMO, no man should judge another man for airing the view of the populace; he feels he is being bullied and asks to be freed.
Whichever way the coin is tossed, ODUMODUBLVCK believes he can’t be stopped or overshadowed because of his faith in God. Another counter-attack technique ‘MODU utilizes is striking the online attack with the fact that he feels he has immunity to cancel culture.
For those asking him to conduct himself like his fellow artistes, “REVENGE IS A MUST. YAB ME I YAB YOU BACK,” he cautions. Ending with a sound warning, ODUMO reminds his slanderers: “YOU ARE MERE MEN. STOP FEELING SO IMPORTANT.”
