Every one of the 104 matches will be on Netflix, with one match per matchday free in Spain.

Netflix unveiled the deal on Tuesday, saying it has secured exclusive rights to the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra. The package covers all 104 matches of the tournament, and the streamer plans full live coverage of each one.

The tournament marks the centenary of the competition. Spain, the reigning world champion, will co-host it with Morocco and Portugal. Three centenary celebration matches will also be played in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, commemorating the inaugural tournament held in Uruguay in 1930.

Not every match will sit behind a paywall. Netflix will make one match per matchday free in Spain. A package covering every Spain match, both semi-finals and the final, will go to a national free-to-air broadcaster, which Netflix has yet to name. Further details are expected closer to the tournament, and financial terms were not disclosed.

Bela Bajaria, Netflix's chief content officer, framed the deal in a statement:

"Few events unite people like the World Cup."

Netflix plans pre-game, half-time and post-game shows with a Spanish perspective, along with daily highlights programmes on match days and extra content ahead of the tournament.

FIFA secretary general Mattias Grafström said, "Our shared ambition is to bring fans closer to the game and enable as many people as possible to share in the excitement of the competition." He also described the 2030 edition as "a special edition of the tournament."

This is not Netflix's first big football deal. It holds broadcast rights to the 2027 and 2031 Women's World Cups, and earlier this year agreed a four-year deal with Concacaf to stream the Nations League finals and Gold Cup tournaments from 2027. Netflix's wider live sports slate includes NFL and MLB games, WWE, boxing and mixed martial arts. The company said the Spain deal would be its first broadcast of a major men's international tournament in Spain. RTVE carried the 2026 World Cup there.

According to FIFA's proposed schedule, the centenary matches in South America will be played on June 8-9, ahead of the official opening on June 13-14. The final is slated for July 21.
