Mavin Global Holdings, spearheaded by Don Jazzy activates their second act of the year in the person of Bayanni, introducing him into the mainstream world with the self-titled debut extended play (EP) – Bayanni.
Bayanni’s smooth and clear vocal abilities are the first things you notice and try to identify him with on the EP. His flair for his local dialect, Yoruba, is also unmissable, as all 4 songs were rendered in the language, although he seldom adds a little bit of Pidgin to appease the non-Yoruba speaking audience. Lastly, Bayanni’s infusion of ‘street hop’ slang in his love songs spiced up the EP.
Bayanni real name is Oladokun Abimbola Elijah. His passion for music is inborn which led to posting freestyle videos of him performing covers to other artistes’ records or his unreleased songs on the internet as early as 2016. He revealed the initial point of contact with Don Jazzy was virtual via Instagram. He previously went by the name, Zhenoboy, but on his activation, Bayanni is his new professional name and identity.
Bayanni EP majorly consists of party-centric Afropop love tunes with the most sensual record being the third record Ta Ta Ta; the first song is the only exception as it carries the theme of providing for his loved ones. It is rightfully titled Family.
