Fuji stars Kwam 1 and Pasuma join the Netflix sequel, which premieres on December 4.
Femi Adebayo, who works as both an actor and a filmmaker, has revealed who will feature in Jagun Jagun 2, the follow-up to his 2023 epic, in a clip posted to his social media accounts on Friday, October 16. The new names include Fuji musicians Wasiu "Kwam 1" Ayinde and Wasiu "Pasuma" Alabi, and Nollywood heavyweight Funke Akindele.
The sequel will premiere on Netflix on December 4. Vanguard reported on October 14 that Adebayo had announced the date on his Instagram page, and quoted the post's line "ONLY ON NETFLIX DECEMBER 4, 2026."
Other new faces are skit maker Cute Abiola, actress Muka Ray and the late veteran actor Taiwo "Ogogo" Hassan.
Familiar faces from the first film will reprise their roles. They are Lateef Adedimeji, Bimbo Ademoye, Bukunmi Oluwashina, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim "Itele D Icon" Yekini, Fathia Balogun, Adebayo Salami, Muyiwa Ademola, Yinka Quadri and Dele Odule.
Adebayo said bringing the fictional world of Jagun Jagun to life needed actors who could make audiences believe in the story. He described what the cast brought to the roles:
"This cast understood the assignment. Some brought power, some brought rage, some brought the silence that said everything without saying a word."
Behind the scenes, he said, there were "rehearsals, retakes, laughter, and of course, a little chaos." Without giving too much away, he said, "we'll let the performances speak for themselves."
The first film, Jagun Jagun: The Warrior, follows Gbotija, a young man determined to become a formidable warrior who joins the army of Ogundiji, a powerful and feared warlord. Released on Netflix on August 10, 2023, it was directed by Tope Adebayo Salami and Adebayo Tijani and won multiple awards, including two honours at the 2024 AMVCAs and three at the 2024 AMAAs.
The post that announced the date also carried the line "JAGUN JAGUN 2: WAR OF WARRIORS."
