The midfielder's current deal runs out at the end of next season, and his reported £240,000-a-week wage could rise to around £350,000.
Declan Rice is close to agreeing a new long-term contract with Arsenal, sources have told BBC Sport. The England midfielder's current deal runs out at the end of next season, and talks that BBC Sport first revealed in March have now reached an advanced stage.
Rice joined from West Ham for £105m in July 2023 and has made 165 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 21 goals and providing 33 assists. He was part of the side that finally brought the Premier League crown back to the club after 22 years last season. Speaking last season about how important Rice is to the team, Arteta said: "He can adapt to anything that you throw at him."
BBC Sport reports that Rice would get a significant increase on his reported salary of £240,000 a week, which would put him level with Bukayo Saka. Saka is believed to be paid about £350,000 a week, and he signed a new four-year contract in February.
Thomas Tuchel was full of praise for Rice at the World Cup in the summer. The England boss called him "one of the very best midfielders in the world". Rice has won 80 caps for England, scoring eight goals.
On Wednesday, it was announced that Arteta himself had signed a new four-year contract. Across all competitions, Rice has featured seven times for Arsenal this season.
Arsenal host Leeds on Saturday at 12:30 BST, and Rice is expected to be involved.
