The forward was already tied to 2033, and he is being rewarded for his performances with improved terms to 2034.

Cole Palmer has signed a new Chelsea contract on improved terms that keeps him at the club until 2034. The deal is a one-year extension on the contract he already had, which ran to 2033.

Palmer joined from Manchester City in August 2023 in a £42.5m move. The BBC notes that only Manchester City's Erling Haaland, and Chelsea team-mates Joao Pedro and Geovany Quenda, are also contracted to 2034, which puts Palmer on one of the longest deals in the Premier League.

Speaking on chelseafc.com, Palmer said: "Chelsea means a lot to me and I think the club is going in the right direction, so I'm delighted to sign and I'm obviously very happy." He said the owners, sporting directors and manager had given him "a lot of confidence", so it was only right to sign.

I feel like we win major trophies here consistently and I want to be a part of that and play a big role in it too.

Palmer wants to be part of the club's trophy push, and has already won the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Conference League with Chelsea. Since August 2023 he has 91 goal contributions in 138 appearances. This season he has four goals and two assists in seven matches.

Chelsea are 10th in the Premier League after five matches, having conceded 12 goals. Sky Sports noted that Chelsea's defence has conceded more goals than any other side so far.

Palmer admitted he played through a groin problem last season even though he "probably shouldn't have done". His lack of availability ultimately cost him a place in England's World Cup squad in the summer. After he missed England's recent international break, Thomas Tuchel said he "misses too many opportunities".

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso said Palmer is expected to be available for Saturday's game against Bournemouth and remains committed to England. "Absolutely. He's committed, but he needs to be fully fit to play," Alonso said.

Chelsea have handed out several new deals recently. Joao Pedro signed a contract until 2034 in August, and Pedro Neto signed a six-year deal last month. Reece James, Moises Caicedo and Palmer have also committed their peak years to the club, and more renewals could be confirmed in the coming months.
