The actress says a court has legally dissolved the marriage and asks for privacy as she starts a new chapter.
Nollywood actress Chita Agwu has announced that her marriage has been legally dissolved by a court, ending 11 years together. Agwu made the announcement by posting a written statement on her Instagram story, which went up on Monday, October 19, 2026.
The couple had a traditional wedding in October 2014, and their white wedding followed in June 2015. Their union was blessed with children.
Agwu wrote that she was making the news official. "After much thought and a journey that has been deeply personal, I wish to officially inform the public that my marriage has been legally dissolved by the court," she said. She described the split as the end of one chapter: "This chapter of my life has come to an end, and I have chosen to embrace this new beginning with peace, grace, and dignity."
She made clear she would not be explaining what led to the separation. "Out of respect for everyone involved, I will not be sharing private details or engaging in public discussions about the circumstances surrounding my divorce." She also asked that her privacy and that of her former partner be respected.
Agwu closed the post by looking ahead:
"My marriage has ended, but my life continues. I move forward with my head held high, my dignity intact, and my heart open to the future."
Agwu began acting at a young age and went full-time in 2009. She gained prominence for her part in The Bet, and she has since appeared in several Nollywood movies.
Her announcement drew a wave of responses from followers, many of whom shared their thoughts on love and marriage.
