Neither singer has commented publicly, and the reported private talk between them is unconfirmed.

Afrobeats superstars Burna Boy and David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, were filmed shaking hands on Thursday night in a Lagos club, at the bachelor party of rapper Zlatan Ibile. The moment has set off speculation that their years-long rivalry may finally be coming to an end, though neither singer has commented publicly.

Videos of the handshake have spread widely online. Rumours say the pair locked themselves in an upstairs room to talk while members of both camps waited at the door. That detail has not been independently confirmed.

Zlatan will wed his long-time partner, Davita Lamai, at a lavish ceremony in Lagos, set for Saturday, October 24. He is close to both men. He featured on Davido's Osanle in 2018 and on Burna Boy's Killin Dem the following year, a record that won Best Collaboration at The Headies.

Davido had already shared a photo of bundles of dollar bills on his Instagram Story on Wednesday, October 21, and had arrived in Nigeria earlier that week.

Both men used to be close and have worked together as far back as 2013. Burna Boy's debut project, Best of Burn Series Vol. 1, included Davido on the track Trumpet, while Burna Boy appeared in the clip for Davido's breakthrough single Dami Duro.

Things soured publicly around 2020, when cryptic posts from Burna Boy were read as shots at Davido. That September, Davido's FEM included the line "Tell Odogwu say we like to party", which fans took as a reply to Burna Boy. Davido later told Ebuka Obi-Uchendu that the pair were brothers, and that the lyric amounted to an invitation to phone him.

Over the festive season in December 2020, both men were in Ghana, and reports alleged they had a clash at a nightclub. Twist Club said security stopped any escalation, and no footage of a fight emerged. Davido tweeted soon after that he would leave music.

Peace seemed to arrive in 2021/2022. Burna Boy, saying he was no longer vexed, spoke about the truce:

"David wasn't tryna one on one with me but we figured it out."

The truce did not last. In February 2024, Burna Boy exchanged barbs with a fan of Davido on X, using an insulting word aimed at the singer, which revived the rivalry.

Fans quipped that both camps would now have to hunt for a different feud to argue over. The wedding, with #DTTheUnion as its theme, is scheduled for 24 October 2026.
