Bnxn takes a huge leap of faith by putting out his debut album three years after his breakthrough hit. All his life’s experiences—both good and bad—have led to this moment. No wonder the title reads: Sincerely, Benson. He bares it all in this debut offering. An apt title for a well-anticipated album!
Listening to Bnxn (fka Buju) over the years has shown just how lyrically clever the Afro-fusion artiste is. His knack for creating intoxicating melodies plus the ability to tell touching, captivating stories put the spotlight on Bnxn. All these attributes and more are what he delivers in Sincerely, Benson.
The first three tracks have Bnxn proving why he is ahead of his peers. He brags comfortably about his musicality but humbly gives praise to God for such ability.
Bnxn is a lover boy, and he touches on two facets of love in this album. Romantic relationships and toxic love are well-illustrated in Sincerely, Benson. Mukulu (No. 3), and Realize featuring taves (No. 8) are the two tracks that shed light on the beautiful and rewarding features of being with an awesome partner. They touch on the need for quality time and companionship.
Heartbreak and apology for messing up a good thing with a good one take center stage on Pidgin & English. The next track Sweet Tea (Aduke) [No. 7] is also a heartbreak song from the girl’s as Bnxn seeks closure all to no avail. In Toxic (No. 13), bnxn’s heart is still distraught with pain as he relates the unpleasant memories of dealing with a pernicious babe.
Most of the songs, however, put Bnxn on a grandiloquence platter as he weaves out self-affirmation quotables to boost his high self-esteem and exhibit versatility.
Sincerely, Benson brings artists from around the world into one beautiful harmonious project. From Headie One (UK) to Popcaan (Jamaica) to the motherland Nigeria, 2Baba, Kizz Daniel, Seyi Vibez, and fast-rising new act taves—delivered monstrously.
This is such a sweet debut album. One you should pay attention to by listening sedulously. Stream and download Sincerely, Benson now!
