A Los Angeles judge approved the 21-year-old's petition with no objections, making her the third of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's six children to do so.
Zahara Marley Jolie no longer carries her father's surname. A Los Angeles judge approved the 21-year-old's name change petition on Monday, September 28, with no objections, according to court records obtained by People.
The eldest daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt is now legally "Zahara Marley Jolie," dropping "Pitt" from the hyphenated name she carried. She filed the paperwork in April and, as California law requires, published a legal notice in the Los Angeles Daily Journal in July.
Zahara is the third of the couple's six children to make the change official. Shiloh filed to drop Pitt on her 18th birthday in 2024 and was approved that August. Maddox's change from "Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt" to "Maddox Chivan Jolie" became official on September 14, ten years after the alleged incident on a private plane that preceded the couple's split.
Vivienne filed in July, shortly after her own 18th birthday, and has a court hearing set for November 2. Knox, the other twin, has not filed but has reportedly dropped Pitt from his name on his high school diploma.
The move has been a long time coming. Zahara introduced herself as "Zahara Marley Jolie" when she joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College in November 2023, and her name was read the same way at her graduation in May.
Jolie and Pitt separated in 2016 after 12 years together and finalized their divorce in December 2024. They share six children: Maddox, 25; Pax, 22; Zahara; Shiloh, 20; and twins Vivienne and Knox, 18.
