Yinka Quadri says his wife knew he dated actresses and still fed them

The veteran actor says his wife fed the actresses he dated and let them stay over when shoots ran late.

Veteran actor and filmmaker Yinka Quadri, popularly known as Masomo, has said his wife, Sadiat Adenike, knew he was dating actresses in the entertainment industry and still looked after the women. He spoke about this during a chat with the African A-List podcast, and the recording was shared on Facebook on Friday, October 9.

Quadri said some of the women he dated became friends with his wife and told her about other actresses he was seeing. He declined to name them. "I won't mention some of the ladies in the industry. They would become friends with my wife and tell her I was dating someone." He added that some of the women who gossiped to her were ones he was dating himself. "Some of them were women I was actually dating, but they went to her out of jealousy."

According to him, many of the women were surprised when his wife disclosed that she had already known whom they were discussing. "Meanwhile, my wife would say she was already aware I was dating the person they came to gossip about. She wouldn't fight them because of that."

Some of the actresses also stayed overnight at the house when shoots ran late. "Sometimes, when production ended late, they would sleep in my house," he said. His wife knew about the relationships and still prepared meals for the women and attended to their other needs. He put it this way:

"She would feed them, and even though she knew I was dating them, she gave them everything they needed."

Adenike has spoken before about the patience needed to stay married to an entertainer, saying wives in such marriages sometimes have to overlook certain situations. Those earlier remarks did not address her husband's relationships with actresses.

Quadri and Adenike met in 1985 and married in 1989, and they have children. He has credited his wife's sacrifices and support as a factor in his success. Before fame, he abandoned his education to support his father's business, and he kept his acting hidden from his father, who regarded actors as beggars. In the end, he parted with a house that was still incomplete in order to bankroll a movie.
