Premier League leaders Arsenal missed the chance to extend their advantage to eight points as Ivan Toney’s equalizer gave resilient Brentford a well-earned draw.
After a blank first half during which the Bees’ Toney struck the post, the Gunners grabbed the lead four minutes after Trossard came off the bench.
But Toney’s close-range head nod of Christian Norgaard’s cross gave Brentford the just reward for their brilliant away performance at Emirates Stadium.
The goal was eventually upheld after a lengthy investigation by the video assistant referee for a potential offside in the build-up.
Brentford finished an outstanding defensive performance by holding on for a point as Arsenal increased the tempo in the final minutes, including seven minutes of extra time.
On February 15, Arsenal will square off against Manchester City in a top-of-the-table clash.
Meanwhile, Brentford sit eighth and are only five points below fifth place.
Toney’s goal was his 15th of the season – only Erling Haaland and Harry Kane have scored more and with the Bees’ strong defense, there is a strong possibility that they may qualify for European competition next season .
