It’s official: Amazon Prime is moving forward with its live-action Spider-Man Noir series.
According to Variety, Sony Pictures Television has tapped Steve Lightfoot to serve as co-showrunner on the series. Lightfoot previously developed and served as showrunner on the Netflix series “The Punisher,” starring Jon Bernthal. He also created and served as showrunner on the Apple TV+ series “Shantaram.” His other works include “Behind Her Eyes,” “Hannibal,” and “Narcos.”
Further, Oren Uziel (The Lost City) is writing and executive producing the still-untitled Spider-Man Noir series.The series is based on a Marvel comic following an older, grizzled superhero in 1930s New York City. According to inside sources, the series is set in a universe where an alternate Spider-Man who is not Peter Parker emerges in New York during the Great Depression.
Academy Award-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse producers Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Oren Uziel developed the series. And they will also serve as executive producers on the project.
Although Spider-Man Noir has appeared in several animated projects, such as Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, The Amazon Prime series will be his live-action debut. Amazon Prime has also announced that it has several other Spiderman-related projects in development, including “Silk: Spider Society” from showrunner Angela Kang.
