The Tom Holland film has crossed $2.5 billion worldwide and is now the third-highest-grossing film of all time.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now the No. 1 movie on the Apple TV Store and on Amazon's Top 10 Movies global chart, according to FlixPatrol. The Tom Holland film went on digital platforms on October 6, while it was still playing in cinemas.
The digital push follows a long run at the box office. IMDb News reported that the film had become only the third blockbuster in history to cross $2.5 billion worldwide. Its international cume stood at $1.55 billion, with $954.5 million in North America. According to ComicBook.com, the movie passed Star Wars: The Force Awakens to take the top spot among US domestic box-office earners.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film picks up four years after Spider-Man: No Way Home. Peter Parker keeps fighting crime as Spider-Man in a world that no longer remembers him. Zendaya returns as MJ, and Sadie Sink plays Jean Grey.
CBR reports that on Rotten Tomatoes the film sits at 90% with critics and 97% with audiences. It is the worst critics' score for a Holland-led Spider-Man film, and also the best audience score.
In July 2026, Holland admitted he was not ready to pass the webbed torch:
"I will do it for as long as they'll have me. So if this movie does good, I guess we'll see!"
CBR notes that a fifth Spider-Man film has not been announced yet.
Mashable lists the film at $29.99 to buy and $24.99 to rent on Apple TV, Fandango at Home and Prime Video. A rental gives viewers 30 days to start watching, but only 48 hours to finish once they begin. Mashable advises waiting a few weeks, as prices will drop significantly.
Mashable expects a Netflix debut, because Sony Pictures and Netflix have an agreement that gives the streamer first dibs. Its own estimate is that the film will likely arrive in late November or early December.
The film is still playing in cinemas, and CBR reports that a re-release is expected for 2027.
