She gave no song count on a Fenty Beauty livestream, but 17 vaults of 10 products works out to 170.
Rihanna has not released an album since ANTI arrived in 2016. On Wednesday, during a Fenty Beauty TikTok Shop livestream, she was asked how much unreleased music she has stored away. She did not give a direct answer. She pointed to Fenty's Gloss Bomb Vault instead: "If there are 10 products in the Gloss Bomb Vault, then I have at least 17 vaults," she said.
Seventeen vaults of 10 items each comes to 170, and that sum is the figure now circulating. It is the multiplication, not Rihanna's words. ThatGrapeJuice notes she did not declare that she has exactly 170 finished songs, and Hot 97 says she did not explicitly say she has 170 unreleased songs.
An earlier update came from A$AP Rocky, who shares three kids with Rihanna. In an August interview with Jason Lee, he said, "Yo, she in the studio right now," meaning she was back in the studio working.
Earlier this year, Rihanna said she had finally "cracked the code" on her long-awaited album. No release date has been announced.
Her last release came in 2025, when she contributed Friend of Mine to the Smurfs Movie soundtrack.
As of Wednesday, no tracklist, release date or song count for her ninth studio album, R9, has been confirmed.
