Dembele missed a 72nd-minute penalty, then set up one PSG goal and scored another as they moved top of Ligue 1.
Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to beat Strasbourg 3-1 away at the Stade de la Meinau on Saturday and moved to the top of Ligue 1. Ousmane Dembele, last year's Ballon d'Or winner, missed a penalty and then set up one goal and scored another.
Strasbourg went ahead in the 17th minute. Gessime Yassine slipped a pass to United States forward Giovanni Reyna just inside the area, and Reyna turned and beat Matvey Safonov, the PSG goalkeeper, low at his near post. Luis Enrique's side had made eight changes from the team that beat Manchester City 4-2 in the Champions League three days earlier, and Dembele was one of those on the bench.
Luis Enrique sent Dembele and Desire Doue on in the second half. PSG were awarded a penalty after a VAR check confirmed that a Doue shot had hit the arm of Pape Demba Diop, but Dembele put his spot-kick wide in the 72nd minute.
Dembele made amends. He crossed from the right for Ukraine defender Illia Zabarnyi, who equalised with a cushioned close-range finish. Dembele then controlled the ball on the edge of the box and fired in to make it 2-1 with five minutes to go. It was his first Ligue 1 goal of the season, to go with three in the Champions League.
Desire Doue added a third in stoppage time. Dembele brought down a long kick from Safonov before finding Ferran Torres, whose pass set up Doue.
The win was PSG's fourth straight in Ligue 1 and their sixth in a row in all competitions, including the Champions League. Their league start had been slow: they failed to win any of their first three domestic matches and were 13th after three games. They now have 14 points from seven games and sit top on goals scored, ahead of Monaco, who visit Lorient on Sunday. Lille, Rennes, Paris FC and Lyon can all go back above PSG this weekend. Lille host Brest after a 3-0 Champions League loss at Arsenal, and a win would take them to the top.
PSG host Barcelona on Tuesday, three days after this game. Barcelona are Dembele's former side.
