Liverpool was 25 points clear of Manchester City when the Premier League was postponed back in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. There were agitations for the league to be declared null and void, or potentially ending Liverpool title-winning quest, but now it appears the remainder of the campaign will be played after at has been agreed that the Premier League will resume back on June 17.
Manchester City has a game in hand over Liverpool, and they are set to play that on June 17 when hosting Arsenal at the Etihad. City winning that game would see Liverpool lead the table with 22 points with nine matches remaining, and if Liverpool and Manchester City continue to win their respective matches, it means the former will get to win the title with seven matches to play.
This could mean this will take place in Liverpool Gameweek 31’s match at home to Crystal Palace, which might take place on the last weekend of June or the first weekend of July.
However, should City lose to Arsenal, with nine rounds of matches to go each, it means the Reds would simply have to win on the first full weekend back to be crowned champions when they welcome Everton to Anfield.
So, at the earliest, On June 22nd Liverpool could be crowned champions of the Premier League.
