Premier League Game Week 26 Round-Up

The latest round of Premier League action saw Manchester City continue to sweep aside the rest of the competition, whilst Gareth Bale burst into life with his best performance of the campaign so far.
Liverpool’s wretched recent run ended with a win at struggling Sheffield United, whilst both Arsenal and Aston Villa secured impressive victories on the road after winning at Leicester and Leeds respectively.

In the meantime, we have we’ve got enough time to quickly reflect on some of the most eye-catching stats from the weekend’s action via OPTA stats.
• 2016 – Everton haven’t lost a Premier League game at Goodison Park when leading at half time since March 2016 against West Ham (P31 W26 D5 L0 since then).
• 21 – Sheffield United suffered their 21st Premier League defeat of the season, with the Blades the first side since Newport County in the fourth tier in 1970-71 to lose as many as 21 of their first 26 matches in an English Football League season.
• 7,000 – Liverpool’s second goal was their 7,000th in the English top-flight, becoming only the second team to reach that tally, after Everton (7,108 goals)
• 0 – Thomas Tuchel has become just the second manager to see his side keep a clean sheet in his first four home matches in the Premier League, after Brendan Rodgers in 2011-12 with Swansea City.
• 0 – Manchester United have failed to score a single goal in their last six league meetings with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City or Spurs – each of their last four such matches have finished goalless.
• 2 – Chelsea and Manchester United have drawn 0-0 in both of their league meetings in a season for just the second time, having last done so back in 1921-22.
• 5 – Spurs registered their biggest Premier League win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since December 2019, which was also a game against Burnley, a 5-0 victory.
• 3 – Son Heung-Min is the third player to assist two goals for Gareth Bale in the same Premier League match, after Rafael van der Vaart v Blackburn in November 2010 and Aaron Lennon v QPR in October 2011.
• 7 – Gareth Bale has been directly involved in seven goals in his last four appearances for Tottenham in all competitions (four goals & three assists).
• 4 – Crystal Palace have picked up four points from their last two Premier League games (W1 D1) despite attempting just six shots (opponents, 41), having nine touches in the opposition’s box (opponents, 70), and completing just 442 passes (opponents, 1065).
• 2 – David Luiz & Willian are just the second Arsenal duo to combine for a Premier League goal for the Gunners and another Premier League club (Chelsea), after John Hartson & Ian Wright (West Ham)
• 4 – Nicolas Pépé has scored four goals in his last seven Premier League starts for Arsenal, as many as in his previous 21 starts in the competition combined
• 6 – Youri Tielemans has scored six goals for Leicester in the Premier League this season, as many as he had in his first two seasons at the club combined (3 in 2018-19 and 2019-20).
• 12 – Newcastle and Wolves have both scored in all 12 Premier League meetings between the sides, the most played fixture in the competition with neither side keeping a clean sheet.
• 2 – Brighton are the first side in Premier League history to miss two penalties by both hitting the woodwork in a single game.
