Eric Chelle's side touch down on a chartered flight after their 2-1 comeback win over Madagascar, with Guinea-Bissau leading Group L on goal difference.
The Super Eagles touched down in Bissau on Sunday evening for Tuesday's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea-Bissau, landing on a chartered flight less than 48 hours after opening Group L with a 2-1 comeback win over Madagascar in Uyo.
Eric Chelle's side went behind to Ehsan Kari's 16th-minute goal before debutants George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor turned the game around, Ilenikhena levelling in first-half stoppage time and Usor grabbing the winner midway through the second half. Stanley Nwabali also denied Rayan Raveloson to keep Nigeria in the match.
Three points were not enough to take top spot. Guinea-Bissau opened with a 2-0 win away to Tanzania, Franculino Djú and Mama Baldé on target, and the Djurtus lead the group on goal difference.
Tuesday's meeting pits the group's two early leaders against each other. Tanzania are guaranteed a place as one of the tournament's co-hosts, which leaves a single automatic spot to be fought over by Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau and Madagascar.
Addressing the squad on arrival, NFF acting general secretary Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme said only three points would do.
"We were here for a similar AFCON qualifying match three years ago, and we won by a lone goal. Victory is crucial on Tuesday, and I believe you will give your all for the three points as you did three years ago, and as you did on Friday against Madagascar in Uyo," he said.
That trip went Nigeria's way. They won 1-0 in Bissau in qualifying for the 2023 edition, having earlier lost 1-0 in Abuja.
Chelle will run a single training session at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro on Monday before the two sides meet there on Tuesday at 5pm Nigerian time.
