Galatasaray's medical chief says the club will decide on the forward's fitness after tests, with Barcelona four days after the Turkish league game.

Victor Osimhen is closer to a Galatasaray comeback, but the club is not yet promising he will play. The Super Eagles forward is due for tests before Galatasaray's Süper Lig game against Kasımpaşa at RAMS Park on Friday, October 9. Galatasaray then host Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday, October 13.

Galatasaray's chief medical officer, Yener İnce, told Winner Galatasaray: "We will conduct tests on all three players, on Osimhen, on Singo, and on Sallai as well. We will make a decision based on the test results." İnce also said the treatment of all three is going well, and that all three are in much better condition than they were a week to 10 days earlier.

Osimhen was hurt in the 3-2 win over İstanbul Başakşehir on September 4. Soccernet reports that he was forced off in the 33rd minute with discomfort in his right groin, and that a later examination found bleeding in the right adductor muscle group.

He has started part of the team's training again. He took part in some of Tuesday's training before continuing with an individual programme, and the club's official training report confirmed he did not complete the full session with his teammates. In remarks carried by Fanatik, İnce said: "We don't want to risk the player."

The Turkish newspaper Yenicag Gazetesi, cited by Soccernet, says Osimhen is expected to be available for the Kasımpaşa match. It adds that coach Okan Buruk does not plan to start him, and that he could come on for roughly 30 minutes, depending on the state of the game.

Osimhen missed Galatasaray's Champions League opener against Sporting and Süper Lig matches against Kocaelispor and Trabzonspor. He also did not feature for Nigeria against Madagascar, Guinea-Bissau and Russia during the international break. Before the injury, he had six goals and two assists in his first four league matches this season.

Galatasaray play Kasımpaşa on Friday. Barcelona come to Istanbul four days later.
