Who we are
MediaNaija ("we", "us", "our") operates the website medianaija.com — a Nigerian entertainment, music, sports, and news platform. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at info@medianaija.com.
What personal data we collect and why
When you leave a comment we collect the data shown in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user-agent string, to help detect spam.
When you email us or use a contact form, we collect the details you provide (such as your name and email address) solely to respond to you.
If you upload an image to the site, avoid images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) — visitors can download and extract that data.
Like most websites, our servers and infrastructure providers automatically record standard log information (IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring page, and timestamp) for security and to keep the service running.
Cookies
If you leave a comment you may opt in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies for your convenience, so you don't have to re-enter them next time; these last up to one year. If you have an account and log in, we use cookies to remember your login and display preferences. We also use cookies for analytics and advertising, described below.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (for example videos, images, tweets, or posts). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content.
Analytics
We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic, such as which articles are popular and roughly where visitors come from. This helps us improve our content. Analytics data is aggregated and is not used to personally identify you.
Advertising — Google AdSense and third-party ads
We display advertising on this site, including ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and/or other websites on the Internet.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to MediaNaija and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting your Google Ads Settings.
You may also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info/choices, or youronlinechoices.eu if you are in the European Union.
Third-party ad networks and vendors we work with may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to measure ad performance and personalize ads. We do not control these third-party cookies; their use is governed by the vendors' own privacy policies.
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we present a consent message before personalized advertising cookies are set, in line with applicable law.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers who help us operate the site (such as our hosting, analytics, spam-detection, and advertising partners described above), and where required by law. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically. For registered users, we store the profile information they provide. You can see, edit, or delete your personal information at any time (you cannot change your username); site administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, and you can request that we erase it. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. To make a request, email info@medianaija.com.
How we protect your data
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including serving the site over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your data and review our practices regularly.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted on this page, with the effective date revised accordingly.
