The actress receives a Social Impact Award and a Lifetime Social Impact Recognition from Israel Tribune and 90210 Enterprise after channelling the film's proceeds to Slum2School Africa for children in Makoko and other underserved communities.

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has added two honours to a year she has spent marking three decades in Nollywood. In a post on her Instagram page on September 27, the actress shared that she had received a Social Impact Award and a Lifetime Social Impact Recognition from Israel Tribune and 90210 Enterprise, a joint first from the two organisations.

The recognition reaches back to Mother's Love, the film that was her feature directorial debut. When its cinema run ended, Jalade-Ekeinde gave away her entire producer's earnings to Slum2School Africa, the organisation that keeps children from underserved communities in school. The film had grossed N103,094,663, and after deductions for exhibitors, distributors and tax, N22,276,558 was left for the producers. She sent the full amount to Slum2School in July.

Makoko, the Lagos lagoon settlement that was one of the film's backdrops, is at the heart of the story. Jalade-Ekeinde wrote that she had no idea the gesture would land the way it did:

When I decided to donate our entire producer's earnings from MothersLoveTheMovie to the education of children from underserved communities such as Makoko, which was one of the backgrounds of our movie, little did I know how many it would resonate with, touch or were watching. Our little act of obedience has continued to be an inspiration even to me.

She ended on the note she has returned to all along: "I am truly grateful to God to be able to do what I love and give back through it." The honours were presented in the United States, where she shared the news from Beverly Hills.
