Nicolas Cage is reportedly in talks to reprise his role as Spider-Man Noir in Sony’s upcoming live-action series.
According to The Ankler, “Nicolas Cage is in serious talks to take on the lead role in the series, which will be set in 1930s New York City.” The news outlet disclosed this news in an article about the status of several live-action co-productions that Sony has in development at Amazon.
Per the report, Cage is in negotiations to reprise his role as the alternate ’30s detective version of Spiderman. However, Sony made no comment on the report. Cage starred as Spiderman Noir in the hit animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. In which Spider-Man Noir was one of the variants who got trapped in Miles Morales universe. He is also set to voice the character once more in 2025’s Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Sony first announced the Spider-Man Noir series in February 2023. However, Variety reported at the time that the series would not follow a Peter Parker variant but rather an “older, grizzled” version of Spider-Man. It is yet to be seen if that’s still the plan. But undoubtedly the series will be set in its own universe. Furthermore, the upcoming series will introduce the first live-action incarnation of Spider-Man Noir.
Oren Uziel (The Lost City, Mortal Kombat, 22 Jump Street) will script and executive produce the series. In addition, Amy Pascal, the former chief of Sony. And Into the Spider-Verse filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will serve as executive producers.
