Netflix has revealed the release window for The Umbrella Academy season 4.
The streaming service posted a video on the official Umbrella Academy Twitter account. In which the show’s cast celebrates the characters’ birthdays with festive activities such as hitting pinatas and throwing confetti. The video then concludes with the revelation that The Umbrella Academy season 4 will debut on Netflix in 2024.
Further, the caption on the post reads: “On October 1, 1989, our extraordinary super-powered babies were born. In 2024, they return. Happy birthday, brellies.”

This announcement comes a year after Netflix renewed The Umbrella Academy for its fourth and final season on August 25th, 2022. However, not much is known about the final season beyond the fact that it will consist of fewer episodes than seasons prior. Showrunner Steve Blackman confirmed this news on X (formally known as Twitter) on December 14th. He stated that the fourth season would consist of six episodes and that they’d be “amazing.”
The Umbrella Academy star, Aidan Gallagher, also teased that the show’s characters maybe more like their comic book counterparts in season 4. He stated this in an interview with Collider. Where he said, “We may see a more comic book version of Five in Season 4.”
The Umbrella Academy, which has amassed a significant fan base since its debut in 2019, is based on the Dark Horse comic books of the same name.
The comic book series was created and written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá. It follows a ragtag group of super-powered individuals born to random, unconnected women on October 1, 1989, who showed no signs of pregnancy at the start of the day.
