Pop culture organisation, NATIVE tasked themselves with making a sound alternative to the vibrant Nigerian mainstream music soundscape; executive produced and organised by Addy Edgal and Sholz for NATIVE Sound System, their debut album titled NATIVEWORLD hits streaming platforms.
With a variety of genres blended into an album of 15 tracks, NATIVEWORLD brings a nice mix of sounds from different parts of the world like Europe (Electric Pop, EDM, House, Afroswing), Africa (Afropop, Afrobeats, Alté, Highlife, Amapiano) and North America (Hip-Hop/Rap, Trap, Pop). All these sounds inspired by the world’s soundscape were beautifully produced by Sholz (Tracks 1, 2, 4, 5, 7 & 15), Adey (11 & 15) and a few other talented beat makers.
Addy Edgal and Sholz recruited the finest Alté tastemakers in BOJ, Tec (of Show Dem Camp), Prettyboy D-O, Odunsi (The Engine), Cruel Santino, Lady Donli, SGAWD, Teeze and Fresh L to bring the distinct idea they envisioned to life in music form. Other featured acts include Ayra Starr, Lojay, Maison2500, Knucks (UK), Alpha P, Obongjayar, The Cavemen., Mojo AF, Odeal, PsychoYP, Tochi Bedford, Wani, Bloody Civilian, Deto Black, SL and NSG (UK).
NATIVEWORLD ingenuity lies in its ability to merge artistes of different genres into creating an eccentric soundscape that is beautiful to the listeners’ hearing. The album also provides relief from the transcendent African sound, generally tagged ‘Afrobeats’.
