Mavin’s talented young act, Ayra Starr says she rather describes her sound with words than genres because her style of music is “eye opening”, she explains this while On-Air with Do2dtun of Lagos based Cool FM radio station. OAP Dotun, asked the buzzing music act to describe her sound (or style of music). Her response to that question is one of intuition and amazement.
Ayra Starr, 19, who burst out to the music scene with her eponymous EP—“Ayra Starr”—gave a brilliant response which embodies what she believes her sound to be. She says: “I really like describing my sound with words and feelings, not genres (I don’t like limiting my music to certain genres).” She continues: “So I like to describe my sound as intense, as free—it is eye-opening.”
She explains her point of view with this clarification: “When you listen to the music, it’s kind of euphoric because it takes you to a specific — to a place — where you know that you feel this certain type of freedom—someone else is saying things you always felt, (someone else is singing it) but you can’t say it out. . . it’s just so euphoric.” Ayra concludes by saying she is happy listener can also feel that way about her music, revealing it has always been a plan to establish such connection between her music and the listeners.
Ayra Starr debut album, “19 & Dangerous” drops on Friday. Fans, listeners, critics even would be eager to hear what she has in store for them.
