Marvel Studios has finally given an update about Scarlet Witch’s fate following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
If you recall, Wanda (the Scarlet Witch) was seemingly crushed by falling rocks during the ending of the Multiverse of Madness. This occurs as she destroys Mount Wungadore and gets crushed by its rumble, leaving nothing but a red burst behind. The film made no further attempt to clarify if she survived or died. But the vagueness of this scene has sparked significant debate amongst fans. With some believing she died and others believing she somehow lived.
Luckily, Marvel Studios has finally provided answers to this highly debated question. According to a passage in a recently released book titled Marvel Studios’ The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline. Scarlet Witch did not survive the destruction of Mount Wundagore at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The passage reads. “[Wanda] destroys Wundagore—and collapses it upon herself—ending two great threats to all of the Multiverse” (Source: CultureCrave). The book then goes on to include a symbol representing the death of a major character.
However, Wanda could still show up in a future MCU project. This is because the multiverse saga gives room for dead Marvel characters to reappear in some capacity down the line. For instance, an alternative version of Wanda was shown in Multiverse of Madness, one who still had her children. This variant could play a major role in future MCU projects.
