Manchester United, making their Women’s Champions League debut, has been drawn against Paris St-Germain in the second qualifying round. This presents an opportunity for United, who finished as runners-up in the Women’s Super League last season, marking their maiden European qualification. They will commence their campaign with the first leg scheduled to be played at their home ground on either the 10th or 11th of October. Paris St-Germain, a two-time finalist in the competition, will be a formidable opponent.
On the other hand, Scottish champions Glasgow City will be facing Norwegian club SK Brann in the same round. Glasgow City secured their place by defeating Lithuania’s Gintra in the initial round.
The matches for the return legs are slated for the 18th and 19th of October, and the outcomes will determine the final 12 teams that progress to the group stages of the tournament.
It’s important to note that defending champions Barcelona, as well as renowned clubs like Lyon, Bayern Munich, and WSL champions Chelsea, have already secured their berths in the group stages, set to kick off in November. Notably, last season’s Champions League semi-finalists Arsenal were eliminated in the first qualifying round, along with Scottish side Celtic.
