Wayne says he edits the old tracks and sends them to Drake, who replies with the same question each time.
Lil Wayne says he and Drake have a stash of unreleased music, and some of it could still come out. On the Tuesday (Oct. 6) episode of The Joint Venture, Wayne was asked about rumors of such material. "That is beyond true, just by us working together," he replied to his cohost, Craig Carton.
"We have a whole bunch of unreleased material. I go through stuff every other day, just going down the drive, going through the files," Wayne said. "We have music from 2014 and 2015, like, really unheard stuff."
Asked whether those songs could see release, Wayne said, "Of course, yeah." He described his routine: "When I'm doing nothing, I edit that stuff up and just send it to [Drake's] phone so he can hear the new versions of it and get him going." According to Wayne, Drake answers every time with the same message: "When we dropping this?"
Wayne and Drake's last collaborations came in 2021: You Only Live Twice on Certified Lover Boy, and Seeing Green on Nicki Minaj's Young Money reunion. Billboard's list of their Hot 100 hits includes She Will (No. 3) and Successful (No. 17).
Wayne resumes his 20 Years of Carter Classics tour later this month.
