We already have trillion-dollar enterprises. How fast can we the world‘s first trillionaire? The world’s first trillionaire will likely be Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, according to Comparisun, a company that allows small to medium-sized enterprises to compare different business products.
The prediction shows that Bezos will achieve trillionaire status by 2026. The company said its forecast is focused on taking and applying the average percentage of annual growth over the past five years to future years.
Comparisun shows that the net worth of Bezos has grown by an average of 34 percent over the past five years.
Bezos’ net worth was valued at $143 billion as of Thursday morning, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, which measures the income of the world’s wealthiest people daily. Bezos’ worth has risen by more than $28 billion compared with last year.
Talk about Bezos ‘potential trillionaire status follows Amazon employees’ public protests about their safety as they continue to work during the coronavirus pandemic. Staff for Amazon and other companies like Instacart held a
strike on May 1, protesting the lack of “suitable workplace security.”
In the first half of 2020, Amazon said it invested over $800 million on security measures including masks, hand sanitizer, and extra hand-washing stations in warehouses. The company also hired 175,000 new employees to keep up with demand as millions of consumers are leaning on Amazon to deliver goods while stuck at home. Tim Bray, vice president of Amazon and “Distinguished Engineer” at Amazon Web Services, announced earlier this month that he is leaving the company over the firing of executives who have spoken out against the treatment of workers in their warehouses.
