Derry Hans is a super talented singer, rapper, and songwriter. He was Born in Jos, Plateau State but grew up in Allen Avenue, Ikeja Lagos. Derry discovered his creative abilities early in life, while recreating, adapting and performing hits from some of his favorite artists. This led him to develop the ability to write his own original songs by the age of 12. He initially went by the stage name “Ice Age” and focused on making rap themed music. He was an outstanding rapper who released a number of songs between 2010 and 2013, and was signed under a record label called Hitmen Music Group in the year 2012 where released the singles “If I catch you” and “Amarachi”.
In 2013 he released a song titled “Dear Wizkid”, which was a comical rap song that depicted his appreciation for wizkid’s stardom, while showing off his own lyrical abilities. Wizkid listened to this song, was impressed and responded on twitter through a tweet, which increased interests in Derry’s music from fans and music executives at the time.
Between 2014 and 2019, Derry went through a great period of musical evolution, discovering other sides to his music while working with great music heavy weights and corporate brands behind the scenes as a songwriter. He is the voice behind the ACCESS BANK “we can campaign” (a.k.a “one day you go make am”) which was a massive success. He has also worked with other big brands like MALTINA, DSTV, AIRTEL and a host of others.
In 2020, Derry began releasing music again, but under his real name (Derry Hans). He released a brilliant EP titled “Journey to the Stargate” in November 2022, which documented some of his experiences navigating the streets as well as the music industry on his journey to imminent stardom. This EP was received with largely positive feedback. This has been followed by more brilliant singles since 2022, such as “Ogbanje” and “Spend money on your wife” which are accessible on all digital platforms. He is also gearing up to release a new single titled “Oh My Gosh” in May 2024
