Lucasfilm is currently undergoing some managerial changes, with Dave Filoni becoming the head of TV and movie productions.
Millions of Star Wars fans worldwide are familiar with Dave Filoni. His involvement in the franchise over the years include projects such as “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Rebels” and “The Bad Batch.” As well as “The Mandalorian,” and “Ahsoka.” Many of these have had a big impact on the franchise overall storyline.
Filoni’s role in the broader franchise is set to expand even further, as the filmmaker, who was named executive vice president in 2020, is now Lucasfilm’s chief creative officer. Filoni revealed his new role within the company to Vanity Fair in a recent interview. In which he said:
“In the past, in a lot of projects, I would be brought into it; I would see it after it had already developed in good ways.” He added. “In this new role, it’s opened up to basically everything that’s going on. When we’re planning the future of what we’re doing now, I’m involved at the inception phase.”
I’m not telling people what to do,” he added. “But I do feel like I’m trying to help them tell the best story that they want to tell. I need to be a help across the galaxy here, like a part of a Jedi Council, almost.”
Filoni is already an executive producer on all of Disney+’s live-action “Star Wars” series. Including shows like “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Bobba Fett”. In addition, he was to direct a film that would tie all of the TV storylines together. But He will now be involved in the conception and production of every single Star Wars film and television project from start to finish.
