Club CEO Confirms Manchester United Interest In Real Madrid Target

Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar has confirmed Manchester United have joined Real Madrid in the race for Ajax star Donny van de Beek and the Red Devils looking to pull off a £36m swoop for the Dutch this summer according to the Daily Mail.

Van de Beek has emerged as one of the most exciting young playmakers in European football over the last two seasons, he was instrumental in Ajax Fairy run in the UEFA Champions league last season.

The 23-year-old has been impressive this campaign with 10 goals and 11 assists to his name in 37 appearances in all competitions.

Spanish giants Real Madrid have been a long-term suitor and are about to finalize a £49m deal before the deal was stalled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, it appears Madrid will now face stiff competition for van de Beek according to Ajax CEO van der Sar has confirmed his former club, Manchester United, are also keen on the midfielder.

Van der Sar is quoted by the Daily Mail as telling Dutch outlet NOS:

It’s clear that clubs like Real Madrid and are Manchester United are showing interest in Donny van de Beek.’

The Daily Mail claims that Man Utd are keen to secure a £36m deal for the Holland international.
