It is her first new music in three years, ahead of the 25th anniversary edition of Britney on Nov. 6.

Britney Spears, 44, has released a song recorded in 2001 for her album Britney that was left on the cutting room floor. She'll Never Be Me came out on Friday, Oct. 9, and it is the first new music from the pop star in three years. Spears and her team pulled the track from her vault.

Spears co-wrote the song with three collaborators, including her then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake. Bradley Daymond and Alex Greggs were the other two, and Riprock 'n' Alex G produced it.

On the chorus, Spears sings to the ex who has moved on with her doppelgänger:

"There'll never be another me"

The track is the first of five previously unreleased songs on the 25th anniversary edition of Britney, and the expanded version has 25 songs in total. The others are Am I a Sinner, When I Say So and My Big Secret, which were produced by the Neptunes, plus a studio recording of Right Now (Taste the Victory) from a 2002 Pepsi commercial.

Spears and Timberlake were a couple from 1999 until they separated in March 2002. Her one other collaboration with him, What It's Like to Be Me, closed out the original album.

Spears has not released an album of new material since Glory in 2016. Her 2022 duet with Elton John, Hold Me Closer, came before Mind Your Business, a 2023 track with will.i.am, which was her last new song until this one.

Spears has not posted about the song on her social media. Her Facebook account teased on Sept. 30 that "more surprises are coming every week" before the album's release.

The 25th anniversary edition of Britney arrives on Nov. 6.
